Those of you who follow my Blog for some time now might remember a small post I wrote on the boundaries of style a while ago (right here) . With in the past year, as I was reading more and more on the subject of flamboyant and down right outrageous, in your face evolution of Anna Dello Russo, editor-in-chief of Vogue Japan, I thought the topic simply must be revisited.
Especially since the style of Anna involves kaleidoscope of phenomenal hats which, in my opinion, she wears extraordinarily well. It takes more than an effort to create persona as globally recognizable as persona of Anna Dello Russo.
In Anna's case it is an obvious, self sacrificing, constant and endless labor of love. Now, let's be honest: how many of us, servants of Fashion, truly live and breathe Fashion every single moment of our lives? Only for that reason along Anna, in my opinion, deserves standing ovation. :-)
Frankly, I am a bit stunned by the amount of negative posts and comments the target of which is Anna, her choice of shoes, hats, outfits, the absence of makeup her manner in which she smiles (or doesn't smile) and lately her new perfume.
Anna Dello Russo, of course, could not care less, but I, somehow, feel the need to say something to the contrary. With all that is Anna, she managed to located the sensitive, vulnerable grace hiding within a bloody, maligned, often unforgiving industry that is Fashion.
Anna's exaggerated obsession with Fashion sparkles with breathtaking beauty and at the same time reveals intense demands of Anna's ultimate goal - by her very own admission "I don't want to be Cool, I want to be - Fashion". I admire this ability to lure with expectation. I know I always wait impatiently to see what she will wear next, what fantasy will she present to the world.
This ability to lure with expectation is near-impossible task, requiring considerable skill and effort. With that, I am adding Anna Dello Russo to the list of women I would love to create beautiful hat one day. Another round of Global Fashion Weeks is almost here, I can not wait to see what Anna will be wearing next!
