NYC Event: Chanel Iman's White Party

Fashionista reports that Chanel Iman will be throwing a holiday themed white party this Saturday, with ticket sales benefiting the Gay Men's Health Crisis:
The event goes down at Santos Party house in New York, and the tickets are $40 at the door or online here.
The actual invite doesn't have Chanel's name on it, so we'll have to take Fashionista's word for it. If anything, it should be a cute party for a great cause.

NYScene: Black Girls Rock! Awards

Adriana here, still blinded from all the stars at last night's Black Girls Rock! Awards at Lincoln Center in the NYC. First, I had to make sure the outfit was right, knowing I was about to be around some fierce fashion:Then it was off to the red carpet!Susan Taylor, Regina King, BGR founder Beverly Bond, Iman, Teyana Taylor, and Ryan Leslie were just some of the boldface names who worked it for the cameras.
The VIP Lounge was next, where I caught up with some of our favorite stylistas:I asked BGR Award-winner Estelle which UK designer should we all be looking out for and immediately got back, "Jean Pierre Braganza!" She was super-nice and down-to-earth!Fashion Bomb friend Michaela Angela Davis sent tons of love to Claire in Paris, while Veronica Webb dished about her new TV show, "Living Style," on BBC World. "It's a bit like Elsa Klensch's 'Style' and seen in over 200 countries." "Style" is one of my all-time faves--sweet!Malinda Williams (here with friend and fellow actress Vanessa Williams) and I got in some girl-talk about designers. "Rebecca Taylor, Nanette Lepore, and the dresses in the Max Azria high-end line are some of my favorites. I also love big rings, accessories, and pantyhose!"Finally, for breaking into fashion fans, I had to ask superstar stylist June Ambrose what advice she has for stylists looking to make a name right now. "Use your imagination and don't always gravitate towards the obvious. Looks are cyclical--if you work with artists be an outlet for, and an architect of, their reinvention!"
I'm pretty rocked myself after last night but it was completely worth it. Black Girls Rock isn't all parties and stars, though: they do wonderful work empowering young women. To find out more, visit Black Girls Rock Inc.

NYScene: Frye Spring 2009 Preview

Last night, Frye held their Spring 2009 Preview at a private showing on Fifth Avenue. I couldn't wait to see what they had on tap, as I've noticed that the company's been edging their way more and more into the contemporary arena. And they're delivering really well.

My absolute favorites were a pair of snakeskin platforms and some flat sandals:

The flat sandals are actually hand-woven and specially made in Spain while the platforms are indeed genuine snakeskin, as confirmed by Frye rep Brittany Penebre, who was on hand to offer fantastic insight into each piece:

There were also some Frye classics in the line:

And some spring offerings for men:

The theme was sophisticated rustic, and all about classic American music--we aren't the only ones who've been thinking about album covers. They had an entire wall covered in them!

NYScene: Levi's Fall/Holiday Preview

Last night, after an incredible talk by frequent New York Times Style section contributor Caroline Weber on her Marie Antoinette book, Queen of Fashion (a must-read for fashion history lovers), at designer Charles Nolan's studio, I headed over to the Levi's Fall/Holiday Preview at the Levi's store near Union Square:

Hosted by Fashion Bomb sponsor Glam Media, The Fashion Bomb and some of your other favorite style bloggers got an opportunity to try on Levi's new fall styles amidst decadent champagne and cupcakes:

My favorite jeans hands down were Levi's Reissued 1966 Skinny Jeans from their Orange Tab line. Made from incredibly soft Italian denim, and with a slight high-waisted fit, they had that broken-in feeling that normally takes jeans about 4-5 washes to achieve. I copped a pair on the spot. I came thisclose to another purchase:

But then gave myself my own Hmm...check in the end!
