Being a great admirer of Mark Shaw, one of the most interesting photographers of the last century in High Fashion, I simply could not wait to share this wonderful collection of "Backstage series",dated 1954, with you. For me it has always been about details. I have made so many interesting and funny discoveries while looking at this pictures. My heart skipped a bit or two or three when I saw all this fabulous hats, gloves and bags in the background, all in boxes prepared for the models to be worn. One of the models at Pierre Balmain has a small bouquet of violets as an accessory to her beautiful gown :-). It looks like backstage staff has uniforms! - something you don't see very often any more. Oh, and by the way, where is the crowd of fabulous gay guys working backstage? :-)The front row at the Christian Dior show is not filled with celebrities and movie stars , instead, you see a bunch of very pruny, matronly looking ladies wearing very boring shoes. :-) And did you see this underwear on the models? A bit "granny" style, don't you think ? I also noticed that it looks like models had to do their own hair too. Every time I look at this pictures I notice something I somehow missed before. They are so full of grace, beauty, old world glamour and charm - I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
