Tumblr Time*

Once in a while I run into some ecclectic, & creatively put together Tumblr blogs (mine is here). A year ago -if not more- I ran into Lili Peper's blog, those damn city kids (here), probably at the worst time when I was in the midst of finishing my final year of college. It displays photos from fashion editorials which also portray her own style and personality.We both started following eachother and commented on each other's blogs. I later thought it would be fun if I asked a few "interview" questions, which we would post on our blogs. This would be a way to encounter new readers on Tumblr for me, and a great way for her readers to learn more about her:

1. where are some of your favorite places to hang out or eat?

LP: I definitely have found little magical places around the city where I love to hang out. On Franklin there is a cafe called the Bourgeois Pig where I spend a ton of time. It's tiny and personal with a fantastic environment that I would definitely consider inspirational. I also hang out on Larchmont Blvd in Hancock Park quite a bit, probably a little too much, haha. I practically live there as I am there almost every single day. There is another place in called Franklin Canyon Park which is a reservoir/park hidden in Beverly Hills, that I adore. It is honestly so beautiful and so inspirational and personally I have a lot of really valuable memories that take place there. As for restaurants I frequently eat at, there is Swingers, Gyu Kaku, Il Trem, Coral Tree Cafe, Urth Cafe, Katsuya, ect.

2. where do you like to shop?

LP: I love love love LF so I shop there quite a bit. Urban and American Apparel when I have something in mind that I sole need from those stores. Personally I am a big flea market/vintage store person so in that respect Melrose is my shopping paradise. I also do a lot of online shopping. Nasty Gal, Free People and Top Shop online.

3. any cool celebrity spottings? (you knew this was coming)

LP: Ah, the common "you live in Hollywood" question. I know this answer probably won't be as exciting as you'd hope but I honestly think of celebrities as normal people. So when I see them I don't even really notice. My father has a job that requires us to meet a lot of famous people, so I'm just kind of used to it. Also a lot of the events/restaurants/venues I go to celebrities show up. They are just going on with there regular lives just like everyone else, so I don't really think twice about it. Although once I was grabbing a quick lunch at the Chateau Marmont and Nicolas Cage almost hit me with his car, so there's that haha.

4. do you think there are any misconceptions about L.A. culture as a whole?

LP: Oh of course. There are a ton. L.A. is really like it's own bubble, it's own little world. Unless you live there or visit often, I feel like you completely miss what it is actually about. People only see the things you read about. Celebrities, Hollywood Blvd, stars, drugs, parties, ect. When I meet people in other parts of the world and I tell them where I'm from, they talk to me as if I'm an alien from another planet. It is kind of fascinating actually.

5. name 3 things your readers might not know about you

LP: Okay, I'm trying to think of little fun facts not many of my readers would know about me from my blog. I played soccer competitively for 10 years. I have an extremely large and unconventional family. And I really love acting. The first play I was in was Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest, which turned me on to Oscar Wilde and acting.

6. do you have a style icon you look up to?

LP: I definitely have people that influence my personal style, but I always try to put my own twist on things. Off the top of my head, I really admire and derive styles from Edie Sedgwick, Kate Moss, Agyness Deyn, The Olsen twins, Ruby Aldridge, Chloë Sevigny, Charlotte Kemp Muhl, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Freja Beha, Rachel Zoe, and Alexa Chung.

7. what are your aspirations for the future?

LP: Right now I'm looking for internships with fashion photographers, PR firms, and stylists. So I'm hoping to be working by this summer in those subjects. I'm also working on building up my portfolio and getting my name out there. Other than that, I'm just traveling and finishing classes. Figuring my life out.

That's What I Call Style - The Fashion Turd

I stumbled upon a blog, The Fashion Turd, a few days ago and I thought "wow" when I saw the pictures on it. I immediately knew I must show you, my dear readers, this girl, who's truly a gem. 

Q: Let's start with basic information - name, age, location, job, habits, likes, dislikes, anything about you?

My name is Holly Reverse. I am 27 years old. I live in Londinium, but grew up in Cardiff and spent my early twenties in Cornwall. I do have a day job but it is a secret. My star sign is Leo. Some of my favorite things include vomit inducing colour combinations, Doctor Martens, Bjork, my bed, children’s books, tea, androgyny, toys, the films of John Cameron Mitchell, swearing, Tank Girl, cheese, stripy socks, Lazy Oaf Tee-shirts, kissing, glitter, Japanese street fashion, tattoos, The Moomins and  plastic jewellry. I dislike getting up early, eggs, Juicy Couture, stupidly priced vintage clothes, panic attacks, the cold, organized religion, the tube, patriotism and Ugg boots.

Q: How would you describe your style?

As I say in my blog I like wearing clothes that make me look somewhere between a Japanese doll and a 9 year old school boy. The emphasis is on color combinations, mismatching fabrics and eclectic influences, with a little bit of humor thrown in for good measure - I don’t take it too seriously and like to take the piss out of myself a bit. 

Q: What are your guidelines when you get dressed in the morning? What are your dos and don'ts?

No rules at all. I generally just like putting things together that don’t coordinate and I avoid going for a specific ‘look’ or ‘style’- I don’t want to look like I'm a carbon copy from any certain period in time.  I pee my pants over lurid colors and clashing patterns. 

Q: Who are your style icons, who and/or what influences your style?

I’m not really influenced by what is ‘in fashion’ to be honest, hence the name of the blog The Fashion Turd, it’s kind of me giving 2 fingers to the people who are telling us what is ‘fashionable’ or ‘cool’ to be wearing this season - yuk! I just liking putting pieces together that make me feel super rad and that turn a few heads. In terms of style icons - Bjork, Bjork, Bjork, Rei Kawakubo, Peaches, Antony Hegarty, Fred Butler, Enid from Ghost World, Pat Butcher, David Bowie, Hercules & Love Affair, Kimya Dawson, Alexander Mcqueen. Did I say Bjork?

Q: When and why did you start blogging?

I only started blogging a couple of months ago; I was getting a lot of super duper nice comments from people about how I dress and I just thought it would be a good way to share my creations and thoughts with anyone who wanted to take a look. It seems to be going quite well?  And obviously because I’m a vain exhibitionist who likes having her ego massaged...no joke.

Q: Finally, what would your message be to fashion world, fashion industry, fashion lovers and fashion bloggers all around the world?

Oooh lawd...urm...too early for that kind of huge question! I guess don’t take yourself too seriously, keep a sense of humour, dress for yourself, avoid slogan t-shirts and velour tracksuits...wear clean pants every day.

My Recent Favorite Blogger - Eighties Spring.

i finally figured out how should i do this blogger series thing - i'm gonna post interviews for 5 days everyday every month. it means that for November, this is gonna be the last interview.
meet Nusardel. this guy is shocking: he's 12 (yes, TWELVE years old), looks like a twenty-something guy, and he's incredibly stylish. and surprisingly smart. 

Q: Who are you into the real life? (age, location, likes, dislikes, hobbies, job, studies, etc.)

I'm 12 and live in Sydney, Australia. I'm planning on becoming a fashion photographer. And though I can't get a job yet, I'm hoping my first one will be at somewhere like Burberry.

Q: What led you to start blogging?

Being able to speak my mind freely was one of the main reasons I started blogging. I also liked the fact that people might actually read what I write and that my knowledge and thoughts might help them.

Q: What are the biggest pros and cons of blogging for you?

Blogging is a huge thing, even though everyone takes it for granted. It's got the ability to spark controversy, or if you're not honest enough, bore people to death. I guess it's a pro when I've actually created my content, and it gives me a way to store my thoughts, almost like a notepad. The obvious con would be writing something interesting; I don't want my posts to sound like something out of a textbook, but at the same time, I want them to be based on fact.

Q: In real life, how would you describe yourself in terms of fashion? (style, favorite looks, favorite pieces of clothing, favorite designs, etc.)

Right now, I've got this huge thing for denim, and neutral colours. Most of the time, I try and add a bohemian touch to each of my outfits, without looking like a hippie. I also like to keep things cheap which is kind of hard considering I'm a brands kind of guy. At the moment, I'm obsessed with my canvas sneakers I recently bought and my Country Roadcardigan; if I go out, no matter what the weather, I'll most likely be in the two with a pair of denim shorts.

Q: Finally, how would you describe your blog in a few words?

My blog is a stupid, useless thing and I'm shocked people even read it. But they do, so I must be doing something right.

What are the biggest pros and cons of blogging for you?

Carolina:

Pros:  It's fun. I enjoy writing, the picture editing and the information search.  It’s a process I really enjoy.

Cons:  No cons yet!

Pros: It's fun to write about stuff that we like, so it’s just liberating to write something that we love.  

Let it be fashion, pop culture, weird things or random facts.

Cons: I am lazy to translate or to rewrite the article in spanish. Not difficult, but just lazy.

In real life, how would you describe yourself in terms of fashion? 

Carolina: I'm into the Rock Glamour yet girly look: Band T-shirts, jeans, cool handbags, etc.  It all depends on my mood and event I’m assisting.  Random fact: My name is Carolina and I have an unhealthy obsession with Earrings.  I had to get that off my chest. Hahaha. 

Marilyn:  Simple with an artsy touch. Depends on my mood and the weather.  Then I’ll look for something and create a style that goes according to it.  Weather is an important factor that a lot of people overlook. 

Finally, how would you describe your blog in a few words?

Carolina:  mcQueenBeep is a creative outlet for two best friends to express themselves.    It’s a place to know or even learn about:  Pop Culture, Fashion, Design and Music in a fun non judgmental form.

okay, i know i planned to post these blogger series weekly, but i couldn't take not posting this, so i decided to do this on a daily basis for a while.

Q: Who are you into real life?

My name is toni and I'm a 21 year old blogger from Vienna/Austria. I'm working as an event manager for two years now and I'm still in love with my job. Actually I'm this typical kind of girl living in a big city with dreams and wishes like many others out there too.

Q: What led you to start blogging?

I first started blogging when I was 13 but quit again very soon since I wasn't quite sure what to write about and in addition, I'm very untalanted in writing in general. This is why my blog is more like a photoblog. I think pictures can say so much more than words.

Q: What are the biggest pros and cons of blogging?

Blogging gives me the opportunity to publish my creative mindfick, whether if its what Im wearing, what I think is beautiful or what I'd really recommend. It makes me happy when people like what I do and there's nothing better than a few new followers who appreciate what you do.

On the other hand it's very much hard work too and I learned this quite fast. A blog can't exist without any readers or comments. And no one will notice you until you don't pull the attention on you. This is what I'm working at at the moment.

Q: How would you describe your personal style in real life?

My personal style is very easy and simple. I'm not into these whole fashion styles which you could never wear in your daily life. I love things that are cosy and simple but still look great. I'm all into natural colors. This season my fav color is definitely grey!

I think the 3 words that describe my blog best are:simple, written with passion and love but still edgy :)

i've planned to start a new series, My Recent Favorite Blogger months ago, but everyone who i contacted, forgot to answer, or probably rather ignored me.
anyways, i finally found a great blogger, editing a great blog, who actually answered my questions and was happy to help me. let's meet Vincent Ko, the editor of, well, Vincent Ko blog.

When I first came upon Lookbook. I saw so many people with great styles and I've always loved fashion and I asked myself, "Why not blog about it?". Also, I get to hear people's comments and feedbacks about my blog and the posts that I posted. That way, I can continue to grow as a fashion blogger.

Q: What are the biggest pros and cons of blogging for you?

The biggest pros for me are growing as a fashion blogger, meeting new people, and discovered new things. The con for me is that I have to think what I'm about to write and come up with interesting words. Also, I need to make my blog interesting so that it will attract more people and that way my blog will be more well known.

Q: In real life, how would you describe yourself in terms of fashion? (style, favorite looks, favorite pieces of clothing, favorite designs, etc.)

Hmmm.... My style would have to be bohemian meets indie meets rocker. I wear plenty of plaids, stripes, leather and solid white and black. Right now, I'm really into denim jacket and overcoat because they keep you looking good and warm during fall and winter. Denim makes everything pop... you just need to wear a shirt or plaid shirt and you're good to go. Whereas overcoat, it gives the illusion that you're taller because it elongates your body. The one thing that I can't go out without is my collection of vintage bag. I always have to carry my bag otherwise I would feel like something is missing in my life.

Q: Finally, how would you describe your blog in a few words?

My blog is a mixed between fashion and photography. I normally post lookbooks from the designers, outfit that I wear and my photography. I guess you could also say that my blog will help inspire some people in their every day life. My blog will help men to be more interested in fashion and lifestyle.

the high society nail artist, Dorina Lepp.

a new craze seem to appear in the circles of the hungarian young and rich. this fad is - Dorina Lepp. the teenage manicure artist have been doing the nails of the high society youngsters for one year now, and everyone seems to adore her work. she makes UV gel base artificial nails - even for toes -, gorgeous nail paints, she can correct nail injuries aesthetically and can lengthen and shape nails however one likes. i've met her in person, seen her works, and i must say - no wonder the upper class loves her.

why did you start working with nails?
i never liked my nails naturally, i've always painted it over and over for my outfit of the next day. also, my nails were always very sensitive, they broke and stuff, so once i visited my friend's mom's beauty salon and got my nails done. i liked that pretty much, but thought that it'd be a little pricey to have them done every month, so i decided to buy the tools so that i can do my own nails myself. of course i'm lucky to have creativity and talent for arts too.
first i only practiced on my mother and myself, then my friends started to notice how good my nails look and to wonder if i could do their nails too. the first few works of mine were not so perfect, but i didn't notice it then, only now as i revise them i see the problems and failures, because i improved a lot since then - i went to nail art conferences, read a lot of things about nails, like blogs and stuff, but i have never been to a nail art course or workshop, since i'm not over 18 yet.


what is UV gel based artificial nail?
it gets hard when contacts UV light, finally it's harder, than plastic, but when applying, it's a liquid-ish material, a little more volumed than shower gels. you can get unlimited designs by having these nails, like you can basically have them made of colored gels and even build stuff into the nails, such as gems, rhinestones, even tiny drawings, any kinda small design stuff. it has a lot of adventages - no broken nails, no polish chipping, it's shapable, you can pain for example red onto you french manicure, if you want something different for one night or something, 'cause nail polish can be washed off, acetone doesn't harm the nails at all.

what are the most special things you can do?
a lot of people like built-in lace in UV gel nails. rhinestones and glitters are the most popular, but i can build in feathers, tiny metallic balls, chemically produced opal (which looks totally like real opal) and even tiny, colorful real dried flowers. i can apply color altering gel nails and glow-in-the-dark nails as well - the latest invention is the "chameleon gel", which alters color when contacting light or heat.
i can apply 3D flowers, paint anything that stands out, but i will soon use acryllic paint too.
here in hungary, stiletto nails are trendy these days - it means long, pointy nails, like witches' nails. i can also make edge nails, that look like little roofs, hybrid nails, that are mixes of the stiletto and the edge nails, the square nails, which are, well, square shaped, and the almond nails, which are round.

what kind of nails do you like the most? what kinda nails do you have?
i like french manicure, it's sophisticated, but compared to what we could do to our nails these days, it's too simple.
i always try to make my nails unique, but then of course people come and they want to have my nail style on their own hands when they see it, so it doesn't stay unique for too long. i have simple, light pink, color altering, square UV gel nails with white roses on my ring fingers' nails at the moment.

what about these artificial nails on toes?
they are totally similar to hand nails, only they're thinner. shiny, long-lasting and pretty. people loved them in the summertime.

what is your price range?
i work for a fix price of 16 dollars (3000 hungarian Forints). whatever people ask for, i do it for that amount of money.

i was browsing IFB a few days ago and found this guy. his username's Expressions Realia (it came out to be his blog's name as well), and his website contained...well, photos. amazing photos, in fact. i got interested in this boy and decided to ask him a few questions, then post them, and then show you a few of his works. here we go.

Who are you?

My name is Unyime, but before I recently embraced my full name everyone has known me simply as U.J. I am 20 years old, and have always been living in

 Southern California my entire life, just in different cities throughout the years. I am currently in College, studying for a degree in Pharmacy believe it or not. I look like a Pharmacist, right?

What led you to start your blog?

In the beginning, it was an experimental blog.

 You don't see too many gentleman who aren't of a certain stereotype blogging about fashion. But it really inspires me creatively. I began my blog as the typical fashion/photography/lifestyle blog, but as I honed my inspiration and re-ignited my passion for photography and film, I thought it best to use my blog now for only personal 

style in attempts to inspire other people looking to express themselves. It's empowering seeing others who are strong enough to display themselves for the entire online community to see. I was inspired to inspire.

Speak a little about your Photography. What inspires you?

I would rather have it speak for itself, but if I had to say a few words I would say it is an extension of my mind. You know I always think you can tell the extent of someone's madness by the content of their ideas. When inspiration hits me for a film for example, I write all my raw emotions on paper unfiltered. My inspiration comes from art, music, people, tribulation. Anything that strengthens you can be used as inspiration.

What are your thoughts on fashion?

I feel fashion is trend. As you find and explore your creative style through fashion, you find what works and what doesn't for yourself. Although there will always be the one article of clothing everyone is after, I no longer feel the need to follow trends because my style is now my own. What inspires me is the fashion community's ability to take an everyday person and inspire them to express themselves how they otherwise may have not been able to do.
