What's your Flavor? 20 New Years Outfit Ideas

Reader Britty wrote in recently saying, "As New Years approaches, I was wondering if you had any cute ideas for dresses, skirts, and definitely hot, head-turning shoes?"

New Years outfits vary as widely as New Years party themes: the club jam, the house party, the gala ball. Since everybody doesn't pop their champagne the same, here are three looks to satisfy three types of divas: The Glam Goddess, the Downtown Scenester, and The Around the Way Girl.
The Glam Goddess
You're the type of girl who loves the glitter and gold, and dressing down is not an option! Go for a shiny look that focuses on sequins, eye catching cocktails, and fur (faux of course!):

The Downtown Scenester

You might get your shine on, but you're also not afraid to go the uncharted route. To dress up, you throw on a scene stealing dress with bad accessories, and unflinchingly play with it all--ruffles, feathers, and unexpected pops of color.
1. Givenchy by Ricardo Tisci Jacket, $2,760. 2. Pencey Feather Dress, $524 3. Yves St. Laurent Jeweled Silk Pump, $890. 4. Patricia Field Bronze Half Glove with Studs, $58-$68 5. Generation BCBG Strapless Dress, $132. 6. Marc by Marc Jacobs Peep Toe Pumps, $435.

The Around the Way Girl

A saucy look is important, but for you casual comfort is key. You keep it laid back in liquid leggings, but showcase your bold side with exotic patterns, metallics, or scene stealing stilettos:

1. Geren Ford Black Leather Jacket, $400 2. American Apparel Lame Black Bodysuit, $30 3. American Apparel Lame Shiny Leggings, $42 4. Casadei Suede/Patent Pump, $390. 5. Members Only Metallic Liquid Leggings, $88. 6. Charlotte Russe Zebra Sequin Tank, $17. 7. Report Signature Shoes Downey Platform Cutout Ankle Bootie, $175. 8. Members Only - Gold Zipper Jacket, $995.
What's your flavor?

First Lady Outfit Ideas: Michelle Obama

Yooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
So I'm checking my CNN from Paris, and I see headlines!
Headlines like 'Change has come to America' and 'Obama claims Historic Presidential Win."
Yes!
Yes!
Yes we DID!!!!!!
We at The Fashion Bomb are no stranger to politics or fashion, and of course had to bless this day with a post not about Obama, but about his fly wife, Michelle:
Just like Barack's changed the game in politics, Michelle's style has completely redefined First Lady chic. Her bold-colored sheaths, flip hairdo, and funky accessories broadcast that it's OK to be trendy, creative, and a little edgy:
Michelle's calendar will now be chock-full of events (and will require more wardrobe changes than a Mimi concert!). So we here at the FB have done our patriotic duty and rounded-up a few outfit suggestions for First Lady Obama--don't y'all just love how that sounds? We're political, funky, fly: check what we came up with:
1. Black Halo Keyhole Ruffle Sleeve Sheath in Ash, $345. 2. J.Crew Cashmere Schoolgirl Cardigan, $175. 3. Brian Atwood Tonya Patent Platforms, $650. 4. J.Crew Quilted Patent Leather Quincy Hobo, $298. 5. White House Black Market Adorned Tweed Jacket, $198. 6. Tracy Reese Trapunto Waist dress, $266.

Celeb Style: Fall Trends

Hey Guys,
First: Thank you ALL for your kind words. They mean a lot!
Second: In the spirit of change, today Adriana gives you her first post as an official Fashion Bomb contributor!
From now on, there will be no introductions, just Adriana offering her thoughts on trends, celeb style, and the like.
Enjoy!
*************************************************************************
Fashion Bombers, if you're anything like me, fall has crept up on you despite your refusal to believe that summer's really over. It seems like celebs have been feeling that way, too, since summer gear still abounds among style mavens (especially at the recent European runway shows), and many of the trends predicted for fall have yet to fully make their way onto the scene. There are a few famous ones, though, who have been giving us glimpses of what's to come.

The always fashion-forward Solange sported one of fall's must-haves, a funky tailored blazer, at the recent Giorgio Armani show in Milan:
Other fall trends will make you think you've gone to sleep and woken up again in the 1990s: plaid, slouchy styles, and motorcycle-inspired boots are just some of the looks we'll be re-visiting. Jennifer Hudson and French actress Sonia Rolland offer their interpretations:
Rihanna almost single-handedly popularized the sophisticated glam rock look (graphic tees, skinny jeans, neon accents, and lots of black) that we can all trace at least one item in our current wardrobes back to, and it's still going strong for fall. Actress Dania Ramirez and Floetry's Marsha Ambrosius channelled the style at recent events:

And one of fall's soon-to-be-staples, the ruffle blouse, has been spotted on Toccara, Janet Jackson, and even Keyshia Cole's mom, Frankie (man down!), who's been, believe it or not, developing her own cute sense of style of late!
Looking to lead the charge to fall trends, as well? Try some of these similar pieces:
1. Priorities Ruffle Blouse, $64. 2. L.A.M.B. Sideways Plaid Blazer, $385. 3. BCBGirls Motorcycle Boot, $198. 4. Silence & Noise Motorcycle Jacket, $128. 5. Blank Skinny Classique Jeans in Grey, $78. 6. J. Crew Fiona Herringbone Jacket, $150.
Bringing you the fashion savvy more frequently now,
Adriana

28 Fashionable Travel Essentials under $200

Hey!
So it took me all summer, but I'm finally taking a much needed vacation! I'm heading to London and Paris in a few days to capture some style (and rest a bit before Fashion Week)...
As a fashionista, you know I'd love to take my whole wardrobe, but the last thing I need are lots of bags to lug around London Town!
I decided to compile a list of 10 Fashionable Travel Essentials that will fit into one large carry on--along with 28 options that will take the most chic traveler through their journey with minimalist style. Pack lightly--but bring lots of accessories!
Travel Must Haves:
1. White T-Shirts
The epitome of crisp, a white tee goes with absolutely everything and serves as the perfect backdrop for dangling necklaces, bangles, and look at me accessories. If you're on vacation for a week, I'd say bring 3 or 4 options (scoop neck, v-neck), and switch them up for endless possibilities. Wear one with cute shorts, under a jacket on cool days, or with just about anything! My picks:
1. James Perse Ultra Supima Rib Short Sleeve T, $60. 2. Intuition Wear V-Neck T, $26. 3. Unisex Sheer Jersey Short Sleeve V-Neck, $22.
2. Jeans
A pair of jeans is the perfect travel go-to, fitting yet stylish for a plane ride. Versatile, jeans can be dressed up in the city of your choice with flats or heels, and can be your solace on an unexpected chilly night. Bring your old faithful pair, you're guaranteed to need them at some point!
1. Seven for All Mankind Stretch Skinny Jeans, $155. 2. BDG Vintage Crackle Cigarette Jean, $54.
3. Scarves
More than combatting the chill of the airplane, scarves serve as playful accessories to punch up your look. A scarf can instantly transform a ho hum 'fit into fashion ferocity! Try these (note Rihanna is a fan of the middle option):
1. Silk Jacquard Scarf, $28. 2. Chan Luu Triangular Ethnic Scarf, $175. 3. A Peace Treaty Jhal Jhao Scarf, $99.
4. Graphic T-Shirts
With days filled with walking, it helps to pack a few graphic tees to showcase your fun side. I plan on repping Barack and bringing along some Fashion Bomb Swag:
1. Barack The Vote Sunshine T, $25. 2. Fashion Bomb T-Shirt, $21. 3. Natural Woman T, $25.
5. Tote Bag:
Use a large handbag to carry around all your essentials--reading, maps, your passport, and lipgloss!
1. Gianni Bini Addison Shopper, $142. 2. Melie Banco Double Handle Rouche, $95. 3. Armani Exchange Quilted Patent Tote Bag, $150.
6. Comfy Shoes
For pounding the pavement, nothing is better than a pair of chic flats or fashionable sneaks:
1. London Sole Metallic Flat with Patent Trim, $90. 2.Puma by Miharayasuhiro Patent Leather Sneaker, $160. 3. Dolce Vita Adam Flat Thong Bootie, $138. 4. J.Crew Penelope Ballet Flats, $120.
7. & 8. One Pair of Heels + Wrinkle Free Dress
As Beyonce shows, once you touch down it's not all about comfort! For nights out, pack one or two wrinkle free dresses and one sensible pair of heels in neutral colors so you can mix and match:
1. Holly Ruche Jersey Dress in Light Olive, $84. 2. Riller & Fount Boatneck Jersey Dress, $135. 3. Imagine Keely High Heel Wedge Sandal, $91. 4. Charles by Charles David Spin Wedge, $110.
9. Oversized Sunglasses
Hide those tired eyes upon touchdown, then flaunt your specs for sightseeing. I love my Gucci shades, but you can still look hot in non designer brands:
1. D& G Dolce & Gabbana Oversized Logo Wrap Sunglasses, $150. 2. Max Studio Harlow Sunglasses, $90. 3. Armani Exchange Large Round Sunglasses, $70.
10. Oh so chic Carry On
Put everything in one bag if you can. You don't want to deal with possible luggage lost (or extra fees for checking too much!). Go with something like these...
1. Diane Von Furstenberg Scallop Collection Expandable Bag, $180. 2.Liz Claiborne Escapade 21" Suitcase, $130. 3. International Traveler Lightweight Wheeled Suitcase, $119.
Besides, you don't want to be stuck like some people...
Ha!
The interns will be taking over for me next week (and I'll be checking in from across the pond!)
Until then...
Smootches!
