Bring Out the Old, Bring in the New...

It's New Year's Eve, and hope are high
Dance one year in, kiss one good-bye
Another chance, another start
So many dreams to tease the heart.
We don't need a crowded ballroom,
Everything we want is here
And face to face, we will embrace, the perfect year.

Wishing you and yours a happy and safe New Year's Eve!

Memo from MD: It's an Honor Just To Be Nominated

Movie Dearest's sister site, The QuOD - The Queer Online Database, has been nominated for Best LGBT Blog in the 1st Annual TLA Gaybie Awards!

Click here to vote for the "most outstanding (or perhaps outrageous) work in gay-themed entertainment throughout the past year", including categories covering film, television, books, comics and, yes, blogs!

To say that I was surprised is an understatement, and I am thrilled that The QuOD was named alongside so many other well-known websites. Voting continues through the month of March, so vote as often as you like! Award winners will be announced April 15th.

MD News Desk: Now Tweeting

For the past few months, the MD News Desk has been bringing you all the latest scoop on what's happening in the entertainment world a couple times of week. Well, in order to bring you the news as soon as it happens (or at least as soon as we hear about it), as of today the News Desk is moving ... to the Official Movie Dearest Twitter page!

There you'll find all the same stories and links as the MD News Desk usually provides (conveniently organized by MD department, from Cinematic Crushes to Women We Love, Out in Film to Videodrone), but in a more timely and efficient manner.

There are several ways to keep up-to-date on all of our informative "tweets". If you have your own account on Twitter, all you have to do is follow us, or you can also receive updates automatically by friending us on the Official Movie Dearest MySpace page. Or you can simply refer to the MD News Desk on Twitter widget located in the upper left hand sidebar of each page right here on Movie Dearest.

Memo from MD: The QuOD Year One

Today is a very special day around here. Sure, it's National Coming Out Day, not to mention the Equality March on Washington, but even more importantly: it's the first anniversary of our sister blog, The QuOD - The Queer Online Database!

OK, we know that those other events are way more important. But we would like to take a moment to pat ourselves on the back for this little labor of love of ours, which as of today has posted exactly 1,450 entries in our database.

Of course, there are many many more GLBT people of note to log, so we'll get back to work ... right after Tinky Winky blows out our birthday candle.

Memo from MD: Twitterpated

Well, we resisted long enough: we are now on Twitter and Facebook.

You can follow Movie Dearest on Twitter here, as well as our sister blog, The QuOD - The Queer Online Database, here. All of the regular blog posts will be "tweeted", as well as any breaking news and/or random ramblings.

You can also visit my personal Facebook page here and be a friend or a fan if you so choose. You can find all of the links to the social networking sites we're on listed in the upper left hand sidebar as well.

Introducing: The Actor Factor!

Today is a special day here at Movie Dearest, as we welcome James Jaeger into the fold as our newest contributor!

James is a Los Angeles based actor who has appeared in many theatrical productions across the country and several local LA stage productions. He is the author of The Peter Putnam Mystery Novels: The Ghost at Patriots Rest and The Wildman on Wandering Wolf Trail. He also appears in Leola Productions' upcoming release of the film The Real Deal.

Our latest "Man on Film" is also a self-confessed obsessive about all things TV, and his column — titled The Actor Factor: A View from Both Sides of the Camera — will tap into his vast knowledge of both classic and contemporary television, beginning with a review of the long-awaited DVD debut of The Lucy Show later today. Jim's future contributions will include more Lucy, as well as looks at some more legendary ladies of the small screen ... think of the desperate, designing and bewitching kind!

Movie Dearest: Year Two

We are celebrating today here at MD HQ, as this July 13 marks the second anniversary of Movie Dearest!

Two years ago today, this humble blog was launched, and since then we have logged over 2,600 posts and welcomed over 560,000 visitors, not to mention our 4,200-plus friends over on our Official MySpace page. Additionally, this past year has not only seen the growth of MD, but also the birth of our "sister blog", The QuOD - The Queer Online Database, a "Who's Who of Who's Out".

Once again, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my two fellow contributors/best pals, Chris Carpenter and Neil Cohen. As our very own "Men on Film", they have added greatly to MD with their film and stage reviews, as well as their awesome interviews with show biz greats (Marisa Tomei, Stacy Keach), GLBT superstars (Leslie Jordan, The Lady Bunny) and exciting newcomers (Little Ashes' Javier Beltrán).

And last, but certainly not least, I would like to thank all of our loyal MD readers who keep coming back for more. And we certainly have a lot more planned for the next year, including coverage of Outfest and Comic-Con and our annual countdown to Hollywood's biggest night, the Oscars (now super-sized)!

So here's to Movie Dearest: Year Three!
