"Costume dramas, or period and historical dramas as some might call them, have been appointment viewing on television for half a century. This five-part series, narrated by Keeley Hawes, examines how the genre has evolved over the decades - from The Forsyte Saga to Upstairs, Downstairs, Brideshead Revisited to Lost in Austen, Pride and Prejudice to Hornblower. The series talks to the stars as well as goes behind the scenes to hear from directors, writers and location managers who reveal the creative process behind some of the most beloved programs in television history."

Other period dramas this month on TVO include:
Victorian Farm Christmas (Dec 22...)
Foyle's War (Dec 22...)
